Welcome to my blog! As my first post I want to tell you what I'm all about.  I wear many hats in my life.  I'm a girlfriend, daughter, sister, auntie (or Tt, as my nieces call me), friend,  social worker, and Jaycee. I'm sure I missed one or two hats.  In my spare time, what little there is, I like to spend it crafting.  I truly believe that your passion should not break your bank.  All of my craft projects have a zero or low cost budget.  I save money by using items I have around the house, visiting thrift shops, and couponing for the rest.  Like so many other crafty people I get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest.  It never ceases to amaze me that I can almost always find a tutorial for project that I'm looking for.  Plus some I would have never thought about.  It's amazing how Pinterest gives me a distorted sense of ability. They make those tutorials look so easy.

Like every crafty person I have my favorite types of projects.  I love to sew.  I've had my 1986ish New Home Sewing machine going on 12 years now.  It's spent a lot of time in the case until recently.  Over the last few months it has gotten a lot more use.  I've been making lots of little projects and a few big ones.  My next goal is to actually learn how to quilt, not just to piece quilt tops like I've been doing.  I also love re-purpose projects.  I really like to make something out of what might have been trash.  I like to think that all of this re-purposing is an easy way to be green.  I like that things I no longer need will find a new found usefulness, not just sit in a landfill.  Of course I don't think my boyfriend likes that I can no longer throw things away.

It is my hope that those who read this blog will learn to rethink the use of some everyday items.  I will be posting my craft successes, and some craft fails.   Lets face it a good craft fail can be pretty funny.  :)

I'll leave you today with a picture.  This is one of my first projects I made from something I saw on pinterest.  It is a squirrel made from a glove.  I was so excited to make this.  I spent quite a long time on it.  When I showed it to my boyfriend he actually jumped back and looked terrified!  Jed named him voodoo squirrel.

Until Next Time,

Kristen
